Jonathan Lévesque, P.Eng., M.Sc.

Senior R&D Engineer

Jo creates all the code at Sentient; he was born to do this. Whether it be low-level firmware, high-level software or server-side programming, Jo can do it all. And on top of all that, he started his career as a Mechanical Engineer before getting his Master's Degree in Computer Science, so he has an exceptional grasp of the real-world implications of his digital work.

Mark Sheehan, P.Eng.

Senior R&D Engineer

Mark is an exceptional mechanical engineer... and an exceptional mechanic... and carpenter, plumber, tile setter, concrete finisher... and golfer... (though no formal training other than engineering). Basically, it's safe to generalize him as exceptional. With his strong theoretical mechanical background, coupled with his hands-on prowess, Mark excels at bringing expertly designed products to life.

"There are no keys to success - only tools."

Chad Wagner, P.Eng.

Senior R&D Engineer

Chad is a Professional Engineer with extensive experience in electronics development, including hardware, firmware and software. He is responsible for electronics development for Sentient products, as well as systems testing, troubleshooting, and general expert advice and guidance to our more junior staff; he is a great source of knowledge and practical implementation advice.Chad is also a music fanatic and even has plans to develop and build his own custom sound amplifier because, like any purist worth their salt, he is exasperated with the state of consumer electronics and their fixation on providing a plethora of mostly-useless features over solid sound quality.

Gerry van Dyk

Senior R&D Technologist

Gerry is an accomplished and experienced technologist, attuned to ensure every detail is accounted. He has mastered the art of effectively communicate technical information with proper modelling and drafting, and has an innate ability to visualize the technical features of a concept. Gerry is passionate about every detail, and has used that passion to create breathtaking models as a pastime. But Gerry doesn't stop at making models of airplanes - he is a private pilot, with his own project aircraft in the works. And he is passionate about it - he even lives in his apartment above his aircraft hangar...

"Passion will make you crazy, but is there any other way to live?"

Abdi Tujuba, E.I.T.

R&D Engineer-in-Training

Effective firmware engineering requires both an electrical engineer and a software engineer. Working with bits, bytes, and registers and putting them into perspective to a build system is like sketching: executing a drawing by carefully aligning lines, edges, shades. Luckily for us, Abdi is an excellent electrical engineer, software engineer and artist.

"The pencil and computer are, if left to their own devices, equally dumb and only as good as the person driving them."

Ryan Musteca, E.I.T.

R&D Engineer-in-Training

Ryan is literally the rope that holds everything together. Being a new mechanical engineer, he has a talent for devices and interconnecting components, and has a taste applying that in the digital realm by writing custom software. Notwithstanding he could give poor Rudy a run for his money, being "five-foot nothing and a hundred and nothing" and can still do chin-ups with 70 pounds on his back, to prepare for the next climbing challenge.

"When you get to the end of your rope. Tie a knot and hang on."

Sara Eghbali, E.I.T., Ph.D.

R&D Engineer-in-Training

Sara holds a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering and is intimately involved in analysing the data collected from Sentient's Recon family of products to support our clients. She is an enthusiastic and avid learner, with a thirst to grow and improve, and is adept applying her extensive knowledge ubiquitously. And, in the midst of doing so, graces our oftentimes ragtag troupe with her poise and class.

Andrew Malcolm, P.Eng.

R&D Engineer

Andrew is a Professional Engineer with expertise in Mechanical Engineering, and product development and testing. Andrew is currently back in University pursuing a second degree in education with future plans on being a teacher. His focus at Sentient is on new product development and mechanical engineering support, and he excels at it - Andrew will be a great teacher. And aside from work (and the essential engineer rite of passage of Lego construction for which he has yet to give up), Andrew is an active a capella singer, and his group, 6 Minute Warning, are talented enough to have paid gigs (which is aca-awesome). We are awed by this man's broad talent.

"And all this is true... because it rhymes."
